Harllee Egg Collection Documentation, 1946-1991.

This series contains documentation associated with a collection of bird eggs donated by Harry Harllee to Clemsn University in 1952. The documentation consists of five rolls of microfilm of data slips that accompany the eggs and identify them, correspondence between Mr. Harlee and the department of zoology (later known as the department of biological sciences), newspaper clippings, and collected biographical information on Mr. Harllee. Principal correspondents include Professor Stanlee Miller, curator of the collection; Lou (Mrs. A. M.) Quattlebaum, donor; and E. Milby Burton, director of the Charleston Museum. Harry Lee Harllee was a naturalist, ornithologist, taxidermist, and founder of the Harllee Museum of Natural History in Florence, S.C. In 1927, he founded the Harllee Construction Company, also in Florence, S.C. In 1947, his nephew, Alexander McQueen Quattlebaum (1913-1987) joined the company as a partner, and it was renamed Harllee-Quattlebaum, Inc.
